Student Loans - We love banking on the future
You know education can be your best investment. And now's the time to get with it! Listed below are four simple steps to begin your student loan process.
- Complete a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). These forms are available from the financial aid office of any school to which you are applying. Or, you can apply online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.The FAFSA should be submitted as soon as possible after January 1.
- In 4 - 6 weeks, the processor will mail you and each of the schools to which you've applied the results in the form of a Student Aid Report (SAR). Each school will determine the financial aid for which you qualify and notify you in an award letter.
- Review your financial aid package and speak with a financial aid officer if you have any questions. Once you've selected which school you'll be attending, request a loan application from Sound Credit Union (if your award letter shows you are eligible for one).
- If you are a dependent undergraduate student, your parents/stepparents can borrow under the Federal PLUS Loan Program, even if you don't qualify for other financial aid.
Remember, Sound Credit Union offers scholarships to high school seniors each year.
