Credit University

Earn it. Save it. Protect it.

Sound has teamed up with several local credit unions to sponsor a high school financial literacy program called Credit University. Given by a former Department of Financial Institutions (DFI) educator the program promotes financial responsibility, increasing personal saving, the importance of good credit, and identity theft prevention.

After completing an interactive online quiz, participating students are eligible to come into a sponsoring credit union branch and receive $25 when they open a new savings account. Here are the details:

To receive the $25 at Sound, students who participated in the class must:

  • Bring in the online Credit University Quiz certificate
  • Present student ID when opening the account
  • Be a high school student between the ages of 14-19
  • If under 18, a parent or guardian must be a joint member on the account
  • The $25 incentive will be deposited on or after 90 days of the account opening date, and may be reported on Form 1099-INT

If you are interested in having Credit University come to your high school, please let us know.

Limit one per student. Rules for credit union participation may vary between credit unions. Participating credit unions: Sound, Verity, Seattle Metropolitan, Group Health, Washington State Employees, Qualstar, and Watermark.
