Overdrafts can happen to the most careful people. That’s why Sound offers four options for your protection and peace of mind.
You can choose from one or more of these easy-access options.
Overdraft Protection Options
Automatic transfer from savings¹
If an overdraft occurs, funds from your savings account will be transferred to cover the draft for a minimal fee of $5 each day a transfer occurs.
Automatic transfer from personal line of credit
If an overdraft occurs, funds are automatically advanced from your available line of credit in $100 increments and transferred to your checking account. Interest is charged daily on the transferred amount. No transfer fee is charged.
Automatic transfer from your credit card
If an overdraft occurs, funds are automatically advanced from your available line of credit in $100 increments and transferred to your checking account. The transfer is treated as a cash advance. The standard cash advance fee as stated in your Credit Card Agreement applies.
Courtesy Pay covers transactions on your checking account up to your Courtesy Pay limit. There are two levels of Courtesy Pay, each with different levels of coverage.

How to Opt-in to Overdraft Protection

Payment of any overdraft(s) is at the discretion of Sound Credit Union. The Courtesy Pay service may be withdrawn, reduced, or suspended at any time, including if your account is not in good standing or if any loan is more than 30 days delinquent. Courtesy Pay fee is $32 for each item greater than $5 paid under Courtesy Pay. With Basic coverage, paid items can include checks and automatic payments (ACH). With Complete coverage, paid items can include checks, automatic payments, debit card transactions, and ATM transactions. You have 30 days from your first overdraft to bring your account current. All fees associated with the payment of overdraft items will be applied to your Courtesy Pay limit. If you exceed your Courtesy Pay limit, additional overdraft items will not be paid. You may remove the Courtesy Pay service at any time by calling us at 253.383.2016 or 800.562.8130, changing your preferences through Online Banking at soundcu.com, or visiting any branch.
