On September 7, 2017, one of the three major credit reporting agencies, Equifax Inc., announced a very large data breach.

What you can do
- Be alert for scams. Verify phone calls and watch out for phishing emails.
- Check your accounts often using mobile or online banking to quickly detect any unauthorized activity.
- Consider signing up for a credit monitoring service like Fraud-Defender.
