Equifax Data Breach

Padlock on a shield line art over map of the world.

On September 7, 2017, one of the three major credit reporting agencies, Equifax Inc., announced a very large data breach.

A breach this large has the potential to include many of our members. We’re here to help.

What you can do

  • Be alert for scams. Verify phone calls and watch out for phishing emails.
  • Check your accounts often using mobile or online banking to quickly detect any unauthorized activity.
  • Consider signing up for a credit monitoring service like Fraud-Defender.

Remember, Sound Credit Union will never ask you for your PINs, passwords or account numbers by email or text message. Stop by a branch, call us at 800.562.8130 or visit our Contact Us page to send a message online.
