Economic Impact Payments
Economic Impact Payments/Stimulus Checks
March 2021: The IRS will begin distributing a third round of Economic Impact Payments (EIP), also referred to as stimulus payments or stimulus checks. This federal relief includes several elements aimed at helping people stay engaged in the economy, which means direct cash for many individuals and families.
Will I receive a stimulus payment?
Visit the IRS website and use the Get My Payment tool for specific information.
Your eligibility, the amount you will receive, and where and when your payment will be made is the sole decision of the IRS. Sound team members, unfortunately, do not have access to this information.
To track your stimulus check through the Get My Payment tool you will need to enter your Social Security number, date of birth, street address and zip code that was listed on the last tax return you filed. The tool will show you the status of your first, second, and third payments, including when they were scheduled to be sent and which bank account they went to.
Be patient, the tool refreshes once a day, usually overnight. If you check more than five times a day, you will get locked out. As mentioned, Sound team members, unfortunately, do not have access to this information so your patience is appreciated.

When will I receive my stimulus payment?
The IRS is working on processing this third round of payments. The fastest and safest way to determine if your stimulus check was deposited into your Sound Credit Union account is to log in to Online or Mobile Banking.
Payments may arrive as soon as the March 13-14 weekend. Please allow an additional 1-2 business days for Sound to process the payment. More stimulus check payments will then be sent over the following weeks.
Visit Get My Payment Frequently Asked Questions for more details.
How will I receive my stimulus payment?
For most taxpayers, payments are automatically deposited in the same account that was used to file your 2020 tax returns, with no further action required. If you have not filed your 2020 tax returns, the IRS will use your 2019 tax return record. If you did not use direct deposit for your 2020 or 2019 tax return, a paper check or EIP card (also referred to as a debit card) will be mailed to your address on file at the IRS.
Don’t see your stimulus payment? Don’t worry. Due to the volume of payments being distributed it can take several weeks. Visit the IRS website and use the Get My Payment tool for specific information.
